Multi-Storey Shopping Centre Car Park Fall in Stourbridge

A WOMAN has fallen from a multi-storey shopping centre car park after becoming trapped and trying to escape.

The fall happened at the Ryemarket car park in Stourbridge on Friday night after 9pm. Both the West Midlands Fire Service and the West Midlands Ambulance Service attended the scene of the accident.

The fallen woman was attended to at the scene by paramedics and is said to have been injured seriously. She was transferred to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Three other rescues were made by the Fire Service as more people had been trapped in the car park too.

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesperson said, “At 9.45pm on Friday, December 4 we were called by the ambulance service to a multi-storey car park in Ryemarket, Stourbridge.

“A fire engine and five firefighters from the town’s fire station arrived in under three minutes.

“The ambulance service was treating a young woman who is understood to have fallen from the building after apparently getting locked in and trying to climb out.”
