Police Officer Holds Man’s Head Above Water After Icy Car Crash

LINCOLNSHIRE police officer holds man’s head above water after icy accident leaves driver trapped inside his upside-down car in a deep ditch filled with icy water.

Dave Anthony lost control of his car on an icy road at Cherry Holt Lane, Pinchbeck on Monday just before 5am. The car overturned, left the road, and trapped Dave in a 12ft ditch. Heroic PC Phil McAllister risked his own life to jump into the ditch that was filled with icy water and managed to hold Dave’s head above the water until he could be rescued.

Dave said “I’d like to say a very, very big thank you and that my family and I appreciate everyone’s efforts today.

“I would have been a goner if PC McAllister hadn’t jumped in to get me out.

“He was brilliant and I think he deserves a commendation for what he did today.

“If it wasn’t for him, and the emergency services, I would’ve been underwater and you would’ve had a fatality instead of just a soaking wet, freezing cold bloke. Thank you.”
