TIGER KING Joe Exotic sues the US Department of Justice
Netflix docuseries star Joe Exotic sued the Department of Justice in Fort Worth on Wednesday, December 16 for allegedly botching his application for a presidential pardon by not giving it directly to Donald Trump.
“Although the email conceded that the President had the ultimate authority to make a decision on the pardon, the email nevertheless implied that the Office of the Pardon Attorney was not sending the recommendation to the President and instead was usurping the role of final decision maker on the pardon,” the six-page complaint states.
The Oklahoma native, known as the Tiger King, was sentenced in January to 22 years in prison in connection with a 2017 murder-for-hire plot of his business enemy Carole Baskin; and numerous wildlife law violations in the deaths of five tigers and breaching the Endangered Species Act.
Exotic’s lawsuit comes eight months after Donald Trump hinted that he may be considering pardoning Joe Exotic. Speaking at a Covid-19 briefing, Trump said:
“I’ll take a look at it. That’s Joe Exotic.”
