HUNDREDS of Germans flout Covid rules to enjoy the snow, despite a recent surge in infections

The ski resorts may be closed in Germany, but that didn’t stop hundreds of snow bunnies from taking to the hills on Monday, December 28 with sleds and snow boards, despite strict Covid-19 regulations in the country. Police from several different jurisdictions took to social media and pleaded with people to follow the rules and stay at home, as tourists surged into their areas.

The city council of Winterberg posted to their Facebook page:

“The traffic situation is currently already coming to an extreme head again. Sledging at the lifts is not allowed, even though many do it,” they added.  Huts and toilets are also closed. “There are no refreshment or warm-up facilities,” the city council added. “Don’t put yourself through the stress.”

German police reported more than 100 violations of Covid-19 restrictions on Christmas Day and Boxing Day alone, despite the tough new measures introduced to stop the spread of infection.
