MULTIPLE graves have been found in the grounds of a Civil War hospital in Tarragona.
So far 61 graves have been discovered in the grounds of the Mas de Santa Magdalena, that was used as a hospital during the Civil War. The hospital was located in the Sierra de Cavalls in Móra d’Ebre.
13 bodies have been recovered, and the 61 graves found by the General Directorate of Democratic Memory are half a metre wide and two metres long. It is not yet known if the graves are multilevel with the possibility of containing multiple remains.
The Mas de Santa Magdalena was utilised as a hospital by the Republican army from August to September in 1938 during the Battle of the Ebro.
