THE Feline Colony capture and release program in San Jose, Almeria, has started ahead of the eagerly anticipated approval of the new guidelines
The “ambitious” program will see cats in the feline colony castrated, vaccinated, dewormed and also microchipped. The aim is to control the currently uncontrollable birth rates, and protect the health of the animals.
The guideline is pending its final approval and is eagerly anticipated. The San Jose Cemetery colony is currently being captured and released, and the aim is to treat a minimum of 80 per cent of the 60 animals. Both the custodian of the colony and the Zoosanitary Centre are involved.
