MICK FLEETWOOD, British drummer and one of the founder members of Fleetwood Mac has come up with a novel idea which will add to his millions in the bank by selling his proportion of performance rights to BMG music.

At 73 he is clearly looking to generate additional income for his successors but unlike other musicians who have sold publishing rights recently, his deal means that every time any Fleetwood Mac number (from the most successful line-up) is streamed on the internet, BMG will be paid his portion of the royalties.

The recent huge success of the Tik Tok hit featuring Dreams produced by Nathan Apodaca which had 2.8 billion views worldwide shows how important the internet and streaming has become.

This deal is a follow-up to a separate deal done earlier whereby he sold publishing rights to a separate company but does not exclude ongoing royalties for sales of CDs and Vinyl from the group’s back catalogue.

Evergreen rock music has become a popular private investment option for those looking for something different and many old rockers have sold different rights over the past 12 months or so.
