SPURS Leave it Late to Overcome Wycombe Wanderers in the FA Cup Fourth Round

It took until the 86th-minute for Tottenham to secure a rather comfortable looking 4-1 victory over a Wycombe side who sit rock-bottom of the Championship.

The sides went in level at the break after Gareth Bale, who was handed a rare start by Jose Mourinho, cancelled out Fred Onyedinma’s opener.

The Welshman squandered a golden opportunity inside five minutes when he headed Lucas Moura’s corner wide when the goal was at his mercy and this seemed to spur the Chairboys on.

Onyedinma latched onto a poorly cleared cross halfway through the first half to make a wasteful Spurs side suffer, however, it was Gareth Bale that finally drew the sides level after he converted Moura’s floated cross from close range to level the tie.

As the game looked certain to be heading for extra-time, Tottenham managed three goals in the last five minutes to register a rather flattering scoreline.

Harry Winks scored his first FA Cup goal and then a late double from Tanguy Ndombele crushed Wycombe’s spirited display as they now turn their attentions back to a Championship relegation battle.

The win for Spurs means they will now face Everton in the FA Cup fifth round, although before that, they must focus on a big clash with struggling Liverpool in the Premier League on Thursday, January 28.
