BENIDORM is to star in a “Made in Holland” documentary.
The resort, its beaches and scenery have been the backdrop for two recent Spanish-produced films and are a favourite location for national and international advertising videos.
But this time Benidorm is to be seen from another angle in the Netherlands thanks to the Doe maar duurzaam (Make it sustainable) documentary, one of three that the RTL Z television channel is filming for the Spanish Tourism Office in The Hague.
A RTL Z crew recently visited Benidorm to interview Leire Bilbao, manager of the Visit Benidorm Foundation, who outlined the municipality’s work in making it a sustainable and environmentally friendly smart tourism destination (DTI).
The television channel’s presenters were particularly keen to know more about Benidorm’s multiple plans to make it both safe and sustainable, as set out in the town hall’s “New Travel, New Safe” campaign.
Included in the town hall’s DTI+Segura campaign, this is viewed outside Spain as “an inspiring success story.”
The documentary also focuses on how Benidorm has managed to reduce pollution while using water and energy responsibly to make the resort an attractive holiday destination for a public  increasingly concerned about the environment.
