UK Vaccinates Record Number of People in One Day.

ACCORDING to National Health Service data published on Monday, February 1, the UK vaccinated 598,389 people on Saturday, a record since the COVID vaccine plan began in early December.

To date, almost nine million people have been vaccinated in the country and the Government hopes to be able to vaccinate the entire adult population by September. In the shorter term, the Government has set itself the goal of vaccinating 15 million people by February 15 – those who are most at risk of death if they contract the virus.

The National Health Service in England said also said today that the elderly in more than 10,000 residences have been offered the choice of being vaccinated using the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine or the Oxford / AstraZeneca vaccine.

After hearing the news, UK’s Secretary of Health Matt Hancock said: “I’m delighted that 598,389 people received their first COVID vaccine yesterday – the highest day so far. Each vaccine administered brings us one step closer to normal. THANK YOU to all involved.”

In other news, the UK Government also announced today that the country has ordered 40 million more vaccines against the coronavirus to Valneva, bringing its total order to 100 million.

The French-Austrian pharmaceutical company, which has launched production without completing the testing phase, has a production facility in Livingston, Scotland, which could supply vaccines to the UK from this year.
