Princess Leonor Prepares For Her First Solo Engagement

PRINCESS LEONOR of Asturias prepares for her first official solo engagement.

Pint-sized Princess of Asturias, Leonor, will preside over her very first solo engagement next week as she commemorates the 30th anniversary of the Instituto Cervantes, the royal household announced on Thursday, March 18.

Arranged by her father King Felipe VI, the event will see the princess taking a tour of the facilities at the Instituto Cervantes, where she will have the opportunity to learn about the digitisation projects that it carries out and to visit an exhibition with a sample of outstanding works of literature in the different languages ​​of Spain.

The official engagement may be one of the only ceremonies the 15-year-old princess takes part in as she is set to fly to Wales at the end of the summer to begin studying the International Baccalaureate programme of the United World Colleges (UWC) educational institution at the UWC Atlantic College, as announced by her parents, King Felipe and Queen Letizia on Wednesday, February 10.

The academic programme takes place over two years (2021-2022 and 2022-2023) and includes both science and literature subjects. She is scheduled to join the school between the end of August and the beginning of September and will reside with the rest of the students.
