MARBELLA’S La Fonda Boutique Hotel Renovation To Be Completed By Summer 2022

Works in Marbella, in the province of Málaga, to renovate the emblematic La Fonda Hotel – which is being converted into a luxury boutique hotel –  have now reached 21 per cent of the completion stage, and are on schedule to be ready to open in May or June 2022.
Located in one of the most popular holiday spots on the Costa del Sol, the La Fonda hotel is being transformed by the Bilba construction company, and in the current phase of the project, the concrete structure is nearing completion, after which, work will begin on the flat and inclined wooden floors.

Once the main structure is finished, a traditional tiled roof will be added to the three buildings that make up the establishment, where, during the course of the work, some incredible archaeological discoveries have been made, including the unearthing of the remains of the foundations and perimeter walls of the old hermitage of San Sebastián, dating back to the 15th century.

Through analysis of these discoveries, it has been possible to further locate and unearth the walls that delimited the old hermitage and to document part of one of Marbella’s medieval suburbs.
José Manuel Gutiérrez, the manager of the Bilba construction company said of the works and the discoveries, “Almost all of the more complex jobs have been completed, bringing work progress to cruising speed.
The work has the intervention of a multidisciplinary team of archaeologists, restorers, and multiple construction teams”, as reported by laopiniondemalaga.es.
