With 95 per cent of people over 60 vaccinated and more vaccine doses ready to distribute, June is going to be “spectacular” the Minister for Health has said.
THE figures are “tremendously spectacular and encouraging,” said Health Minister Carolina Darias.
“June is going to be a spectacular month and we are looking at this week with the highest number of vaccines so far,” she said on June 2.
“June is also going to be an exceptional month because I do not know if we can repeat this large number of vaccine arrivals,” she added.
Darias said an “important effort” would be made so that a consignment of AstraZeneca vaccines that arrived yesterday can be distributed across Spain as quickly as possible.
Last week, Spain secured a long term supply of vaccines from Pfizer with 94 million doses of the vaccine produced by Pfizer and BioNTech earmarked for between December 2021 and June 2023.
The total is equivalent to twice the target population in Spain, Maria Jesus Montero, a spokeswoman for the government, said on May 25.
