Unemployment continues to fall in Velez-Malaga. VELEZ began June with an unemployment rate of 8,756, the lowest level since October. The region continues to benefit from low unemployment rates. According to Cadena SER Axarquia, Velez-Malaga has seen the most dramatic decline in unemployment, with 221 fewer unemployed. Additionally, June opened with an unemployment rate of 8,756, the lowest level since October. Unemployment has decreased by 182 persons in Rincón de la Victoria. Nerja now has 129 fewer unemployed residents; Torrox has 50; and Algarrobo has 11. Unemployment in the province has decreased for the third consecutive month. In May, 6,747 individuals lost their jobs. Malaga presently has a total of over 192,000 unemployed residents, the highest level since May 2014. This fall has been facilitated by the services industry, which has lost 6,000 jobs. The province’s Social Security affiliation increased by over 10,000 workers, a significant increase that now totals 612,000 contributors. There are about 25,000 people in Malaga who are afflicted by ERTE, confirming that incorporation into corporations is extremely delayed.
