ONLY FIVE health centres will open in the afternoon in Malaga Capital this summer. Not even with the pandemic do health centres open in the afternoon during the summer. As what happened last summer, only five will operate in the capital in the evening hours, including, Puerta Blanca, El Palo, Cruz Humilladero, Teatinos and La Roca. Two more will operate in other municipalities, which belong to the Malaga Health District, the centres in Rincón de la Victoria and The only change with respect to the previous year is that instead of opening in the afternoon that of El Cónsul, this time Teatinos will open. The afternoon closing of the twenty remaining health centres will be in place from July 5 to September 17. The following centres will close their doors at 3:00 p.m.
As reported by Malaga Hoy, the decision was communicated this past week to the staff board of the Malaga Health District, according to the delegate of the Nursing Union (Satse) in that institution, José Luis Sánchez. The summer evening closure has been applied since 2012. It has been carried out both during the previous socialist management of the Junta de Andalucia and in the current one of the People’s Party and Ciudadanos. The reasons argued by the Health Administration are, on the one hand, that the influx of patients is lower during the summer period and, on the other, that it is impossible to replace staff.
