The President of Andalucia, Juanma Moreno, will meet with President Pedro Sanchez in the Palacio de la Moncloa in Madrid next Thursday, June 17.
IT will be their first official meeting between the two leaders since Moreno took office as president of the Andalucian autonomous community in January 2019.
“The meeting will serve, among other issues, to discuss the fight against the pandemic and the necessary economic and social reactivation of Andalucia, issues that have become a priority for the Andalucian Government,” the Junta de Andalucia said in a statement.
The meeting will take place just days after Sanchez’s party hold their primaries in Andalucia on June 13.
Moreno’s parliament in Sevilla is currently paralysed after Vox withdrew their support for his party, the Partido Popular.
Late last month, Vox blocked a key piece of legislation and called on Moreno to immediately hold elections. The opposition have now labelled Moreno a lame duck.
Vox withdrew their support the PP led government because the Junta agreed to take unaccompanied child migrants from crisis hit Ceuta.
In 2018 Vox won 12 seats in the Andalucian parliament and marked the far-right’s first electoral success since Spain’s return to democracy in the late 1970s.
