Torrox Hosts The National Women’s Beach Soccer League This Weekend.

TORROX is prepared to host a new international athletic event: The Royal Spanish Beach Soccer Federation has selected the Ferrara sports area to host the Spanish Championship of the 1st National Division for men and women.
Medina expressed gratitude to the Spanish and Andalucian Beach Soccer Federations for their commitment to Torrox in hosting these elite beach football games.
“Torrox is committed to beach sports, and this is another example of the impetus with which the government team is working to establish us as a national reference point for beach sports, with the goal of eventually becoming a reference point for beach sports throughout Europe,” the Torrox councillor stated.
Once again, the mayor emphasised the connection between major events and sports tourism, which results in a boost to the local economy.
Diego Martinez, president of the National Beach Soccer Committee, said that both the Spanish women’s and men’s beach football teams qualified for the European finals in Portugal, noting that their success was partly down to Torrox, as they had been training at Ferrara in the run up to the competition.
“They are outstanding facilities, among the greatest in Spain,” Diego Martnez added, noting that they have become “a reference in the Royal Football Federation for their usage as a training ground for national teams and also for national and international tournaments.”
Martnez noted that in the following days, “an incredible show” will be available “due to the partnership of the Torrox Town Hall and the Sports Council, which advocates for sand sports.”
According to the Royal Spanish Football Federation’s vice-president, “the top players in the world are merging, as all those who competed in Lisbon are returning with their Spanish national teams.”
Additionally, Martinez has announced that Torrox will host the second phase of the 1st Division of Men’s Beach Soccer from July 6 to 10, including the finest Andalucian teams.
