Torremolinos closes quarter two with 2,414 new contracts in the tourism and commerce sectors, which is excellent news for the economic recovery of the area.
The mayor, Jose Ortiz has confirmed that Torremolinos has seen a 300 per cent increase compared to quarter one, and that the area is seeing substantial economic recovery. Ortiz has reported that in Torremolinos in quarter two some 2,414 new contracts in the tourism and commerce sectors have been signed. This is a 300 per cent increase compared to quarter one, when only around 800 contracts were signed. This proves that Torremolinos is on the road to economic recovery.
“These figures are encouraging and show that we are on the road to recovery of economic activity to pre-pandemic levels. Trade and the tourism sector are key and we continue to work to attract quality tourism to our municipality to enjoy their desired holidays,” said the mayor.
The tourism sector had the highest number of contracts with just below 2000 of the 2,414 total. This means that compared to quarter one 376 per cent more contracts were signed. Commerce did exceedingly well too with 447 contracts being signed compared to only 282 in quarter one.
Quarter three covers the peak summer months of the Torremolinos tourist season when the area expects to see many tourists visit. In particular, they expect national tourists to visit. Ortiz expects the figures for the tourism and commerce sectors to increase over quarter three during the summer.
