International cruises from England are set to restart again from early August.

International cruises will resume from the UK on August 2 after a staggering 16 month break due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Cruises restarting will undoubtedly benefit hotels, tour guides, port operators and travel agencies along with other businesses too. Many people have been eagerly awaiting the chance to hop on board and enjoy an international cruise for a long time now.

Double jabbed travellers arriving at UK ports from the EU and the US will not have to self-isolate according to the UK government from August 2. This news was announced yesterday on Wednesday, July 28.

Domestic cruises have been running for some time now but international cruises were still not allowed. Travel advice for international cruises will be amended by the government. The travel advice “will be amended to encourage travellers to understand the risks associated with cruise travel and take personal responsibility for their own safety abroad”.

While double jabbed US and EU travellers arriving from amber list countries will not need to self-isolate from early August, different restrictions will still apply for travellers heading in from France.

Grant Shapps, the Transport Secretary believes that reopening travel borders is “progress we can all enjoy”.

Sadly though it will take some time before cruises on an international basis are up and running again, as operators will need to arrange them. Richard Ballantyne, chief executive at the British Ports Association (BPA), believes that UK ports have already shown how safe cruises can be as they have been carrying out domestic cruises for some time now. He believes that cruise lines can “ensure the health and safety of passengers, crew and destinations”.
