ALFAZ is making plans for World Paella Day.
The date and venue have now been settled, and the celebrations will be held on September 26 at the municipal swimming pool.
The town hall has joined the Valencia-based social initiative which hopes that paella can obtain Intangible Cultural Heritage status like other national dishes, including pizza.
Other Residents councillor, Martine Mertens, explained during a recent meeting with Culture councillor, Luis Morant, and town hall officials that she has been in touch with Alfaz’s many groups and associations.
All are enthusiastic about supporting this year’s edition of Paella Day, which will also use the latest technology to enable as many people as possible to participate in the event, Mertens said.
The present circumstances mean that the celebrations must be planned to avoid overcrowding, both to guarantee participants’ safety and ensure that the event can continue, she explained.
