NEW ROUNDABOUT: A copy of the façade of the Santuario de la Virgen del Saliente Photo credit: Albox town hall
Albox’s La Redia roundabout with its replica of the façade of the Santuario de la Virgen del Saliente is practically finished.
When work on the roundabout began last March, residents speculated that the mysterious structure looked remarkably like the Sanctuary. Their suspicions were later confirmed when the town hall announced that it would be the “pride of residents and visitors to the municipality.”
The sanctuary is located 19 kilometres from Albox and in normal years the September 8 fiestas attract thousands who follow the course of the Rambla watercourse to the 18th century monastery.
Albox mayor Francisco Torrecillas, who is still recovering from Covid-19, announced on the town hall’s social media that the roundabout should be ready by September 8.
