PLAZA MAYOR shopping centre expansion is expected to create around 500 new jobs in the region after being approved by Malaga City Council
During an extraordinary session on Friday morning (August 6), of the Plenary of Malaga City Council, the green light was given for the urban planning agreement between Malaga City Council and the Plaza Mayor Shopping, SA entities; Doc Malaga Siteco SL, and Doc Malaga Siteco Phase 2, SL for the second phase of the proposed expansion project of Plaza Mayor Shopping and McArthurGlen Designer Outlet.
This is a project with an investment of €105 million, which is expected to create around 500 new jobs, and also involve the creation of a 53,725m² car park, next to the San Julian neighborhood, in the Churriana district, with improvements and expansion work included on the Golf Course road.
The agreement will allow for an increase in the current 10,000m² plot, to be expanded to cover 12,725.5m², and includes a change of use, from leisure to commercial, in the area that was known as “Plaza Brava”.
Three new plots with a total of 60,573.64m² of developable land programmed will be expanded to reach a total of 263,218.64m², while it is also proposed to increase the existing 3,915.70m² of land from the Execution Unit 2 of the Sector 3 of Bahia de Malaga, by 17,584.30m², to achieve a final total of 21,500m².
The project is planned to be executed in two unique plots, one of 14,000m², to build what the property calls the second phase of the Designer Outlet; and another of 7,500m², for the expansion of the current Plaza Mayor Shopping Centre.
As established by the LOUA, as participation in capital gains, the valuation corresponds to the equivalent of 2,660m² of buildable area, so the amount to be paid for the property to Malaga City Hall amounts to €3,889,951.6, and the City Council will obtain free of charge, the creation of a large recreation and leisure park, of more than 53,700m², next to the San Julian neighborhood in Churriana, between the confluence of Calles Clara Schumann, and Rimsky Korsakov, as reported by malagahoy.es.
