Chelsea on the verge of re-signing Romelu Lukaku

PREMIER LEAGUE Chelsea are poised to complete the signing of their former player, Romelu Lukaku, from Inter Milan

Chelsea are reportedly edging closer to completing a deal with Serie A giants Inter Milan, that will bring Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge once again, for a club record- fee believed to be in the region of £97.5m, just below the fee Man City paid this week for Jack Grealish, with the paperwork now reported to be with club lawyers and if formalised, Lukaku will then undergo a medical and sign a five-year contract.

Lukaku had assured he was happy at the Italian club when asked earlier in the summer about a possible move away, but now it seems his mind is made up and he has reportedly told the Italians that he wants the big-money move back to London, according to bbc.com.

The formidable Belgian international striker – who helped Inter to win the Italian league title last season for the first time in ten years – previously spent three years at Chelsea, joining them from Anderlecht, in 2011, with two of those seasons spent out on loan at West Bromwich Albion, and Everton, who he then signed for permanently in 2014, as well as a stint at Old Trafford in 2017 with Manchester United, who paid an initial £75m for him, when he was actually expected to move for Chelsea.

Having developed a prolific goalscoring talent at the San Siro, netting 47 times in 72 matches, Lukaku maybe thinks he has unfinished business in the EFL, and a move to the club that is currently the UEFA Champions League trophy holders is definitely going to help him to prove any point he might want to make at the highest level.
