James Corden reportedly offered £7million deal by CBS TV bosses

LATE, LATE SHOW host James Corden has reportedly been offered a huge £7million deal to stay with the CBS show for another two years

James Corden, Britain’s genial host of what is arguably one of American TV’s most high profile television roles, has reportedly been offered what is rumoured to be a mouth-watering £7million deal by bosses at CBS to stay on for another two years as host of The Late, Late Show, according to thesun.co.uk.

Corden is already under contract with the channel until 2022, in what is said to be worth £4.6million, but the Brit’s slick presentation skills and charm have won over the normally hard to please American viewing and studio audiences, and CBS are clearly in no mood to lose him, as a source said, “The network loves him. They are delighted with his work and reach in that tough late-night slot”.

Having landed the job in 2014, when he took over the hot-seat from Scottish comic Craig Ferguson, James Corden has seen his profile go through the roof Stateside, with his sharp sense of wit, and seemingly genuine friendly personality, really winning over both guests, and viewers, while his Carpool Karaoke segment has witnessed some of the biggest names in the world taking part.

Guests on this unique concept have included Michelle Obama, Paul McCartney, Celine Dion, Madonna, Justin Bieber, Adele, and the late George Michael, from whom James had the original inspiration for the idea, after the pair did a sketch for Red Nose Day on 2011, where they both sang George’s hits in a car while driving, and online videos of these Carpool Karaoke’s have racked up millions of views.

James had hinted at leaving the US in December when he said there were “people at home we miss very much who we are homesick for”, words which must have struck fear into CBS bosses, with the source adding, “Previously, James passed on a five-year deal, to remain for 24 months, but he has lots more to give and he is very much in the driving seat”.

With 10 Emmy’s already to his name, a clearly grounded James recently said of them, “I hide them all away, as I don’t know if it is necessarily good for me to see them every day and think, ‘Oh look at me’. I think that is where you can come unstuck. If you think you are a bit more of a dude than you really are”.
