TWO U3A Marina Baixa members recently met Callosa’s mayor, Andres Molina, and two councillors at the local Consum. Here they purchased food and toiletries for the Food Bank and a donation of €200 was given and gratefully received. Social Services in Callosa (Mancomunitat de Callosa d’En Sarria) covers not only Callosa itself but also the villages of Beniarda, Benifato, Benimantell, Bolulla, Castell de Guadalest, Confrides, Polop and Tarbena. U3A Marina Baixa holds a raffle at each monthly meeting and all proceeds are donated to local charities. Members often donate the prizes to reduce overheads and maximise the funds raised. “If you have not heard of the association why not visit their website www.u3amarinabaixa.com where you can find information on all the events and activities that are offered to members,” said the U3A Marina Baixa’s secretary Joan Flint. “Membership is just €10 a year and the next meeting is on Monday September 27 at the Casa de Cultura, Alfaz del Pi at 11am. There is no meeting in August.”
