A SECOND flight has landed at the Rota Naval Base in Cadiz, carrying 400 evacuees from Kabul

The US Embassy has confirmed this afternoon, Friday, August 27, the landing of a second flight at the Rota Naval Base in the province of Cadiz, at 3.37pm, with approximately 400 evacuees from Kabul in Afghanistan on board.

As was the case with the first flight, a team of US government officials is in charge of receiving, processing, and meeting the basic needs of the evacuees, at their new temporary home while they are in transit, with extensive support from the Spanish military, the Red Cross, and other volunteers from the base.

In addition to the collaboration of the Red Cross, the Rota Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS-R) is requesting new altruistic donations to serve the large Afghan contingent, for items such as juices, energy bars, snacks without meat or gelatin, Halal milk powder, potato crisps, children’s games, wet wipes, compresses, and cream for chaffing.

The NAVSUP FLCSI Contracting Office has also made public its search for interpreters – who need to be fluent in both oral and written – capable of translating from English to Dari, the version of Persian spoken in Afghanistan, and also Pashto.

Applicants interested in applying can send their application to the email addresses israel.alvarado@eu.navy.mil or ivan.moyano.sp@eu.navy.mil indicating the specific language that is mastered, and the estimated price for providing such services to the base, as reported by lavozdigital.es.
