Diving returns to the Osunillas pool

The Osunillas pool once again becomes an improvised sea for diving training with the Youth area of the Mijas Town Council.

The Osunillas pool once again becomes an improvised sea for diving training with the Youth area of the Mijas Town Council: “It is a leading initiative in the municipality through which our young people start this sport for free.
“After a short theoretical introduction, the participants jump into the water where they enjoy a beautiful experience”, said the mayor of the area, Tamara Vera, who has visited the young people who have participated in Wednesday’s session.
The diving training takes place from 12pm to 6pm in four shifts of six people each: “They are very small groups so that the monitors can carry out a more personalised session”, specifies Vera, who explained that the disinfection of all the equipment used during this activity “is a priority for us.
“Compliance with the COVID protocol has marked this and all of our summer activities, hence we have always wanted the groups to be very small, to keep a very exhaustive control of the material and that the goal is none other than the enjoyment of the participants”.
This aquatic initiative is aimed at children and young people between 8 and 30 years old. Minors can participate by presenting an authorisation signed by one of their legal guardians, although more and more parents are interested in this experience.
“They are asking us to repeat the activity but this time with sessions in the that they can participate together with their little ones. All the families have received this initiative with great enthusiasm”, Vera concludes.
One of the monitors of this activity, Nikky Wegloop, explained that in this introduction to diving “first we teach the theoretical base and then we develop it with some exercises in the pool. At first they are a little afraid to breathe underwater but later they cope very well”.
The diving training will continue on August 27 and 31. To request registration, those interested should send an email to inscriptionsareajuventud@gmail.com.
