THE Guardia Civil had to evict an unruly passenger from an Iberia flight from Madrid to Paris after he refused to wear a mask and became violent

An unruly passenger on board an Iberia flight to Paris that was taxiing on the runway at the Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Suarez airport, had to be dealt with by the Guardia Civil, after he had behaved in an aggressive manner towards flight attendants who had asked him to wear his facemask, with the man – thought to be French – subsequently being evicted from the aircraft.

According to eyewitness sources who explained to Efe, the incident occurred at around 2.25pm, on the Madrid to Paris flight number IB3442, which was reportedly already heading for the takeoff runway when the flight attendants spotted the maskless passenger and asked him to put his mask on, as he was wearing it incorrectly, underneath his nose.

He refused to comply and responded by first yelling, and then punching one of the attendants, but eventually calmed down after the captain left the cockpit to speak with the man, reportedly aged in his 30s or 40s, at which point he accepted that he must wear his mask, but the captain turned the aircraft around and returned to the terminal.
Four Guardia Civil officers were waiting to meet the plane, and they boarded to escort the passenger off, without the man offering any resistance, and, according to the eyewitness, to a big round of applause from the rest of the passengers, with the flight eventually departing from Madrid around 45 minutes late, as reported by laopiniondemalaga.es.
