A CARBON monoxide leak at a holiday camp in the Barcelona municipality of Fogars de Montclus saw around 60 children having to be evacuated and treated

Around 60 children, and nine monitors, who were staying at a holiday camp in a house in the Barcelona municipality of Fogars de Montclus, are being treated this Saturday, August 28, for multiple carbon monoxide poisoning.

In a tweet on their official page, the Sistema d’Emergencies Mediques (SEM), said that doctors are still assessing the state of health of the children and monitors, to determine whether they should be referred to a medical centre or not, as reported by Europa Press.

Sources from the Generalitat firefighters informed Europa Press that fire crews were deployed to the holiday camp around 12 midday, after receiving an alert about the poisoning, where they have evacuated all of those who were inside the facility at the time.

Firefighters have checked the rooms, showers, swimming pools, and other facilities, but so far have not been able to identify the cause of the carbon monoxide leak.

It is reported that there were also four other people evacuated from the premises, who were in charge of the establishment, where children and teenagers aged between five and eighteen were on holiday, and it is known that ten teams of firefighters remained at the house to try and find out the source of the leak, with the collaboration of the gas company and the boiler company, as reported by cadenaser.com.
