Rail operator Eurostar has put tickets on sale and introduced extra trains just in time for Christmas.

Rail operator Eurostar has put tickets on sale for its festive services and introduced extra trains just in time for Christmas.

Tickets are available for just £39 one way over the Christmas timetable, which will operate from December 12 to January 8.

The schedule will include nine daily return services on weekdays between London and Paris, five between London and Brussels and two between London and Amsterdam.

Travellers must wear face masks even if they have been fully vaccinated.

Eurostar is seeing a surge in people buying tickets and has said that it is seeing a return of people taking weekend trips between London and Paris compared to 2020.

Over four out of five bookings are for leisure or visiting friends and family.

The busiest travel day of the year so far is forecast to be Friday when Eurostar will operate 15 services to deal with the surge in demand due to the school half-term.

Last year, Eurostar said it was “fighting for its survival against a 95 per cent drop in demand” due to the Covid pandemic.

During the pandemic, the rail operator ran just two return services a day for several months, compared to 56 trains before the crisis.
