SATURDAY October 16 saw the celebration of U3A Marinaa Baixa’s 15th anniversary.
Just under 50 members attended the event at the home of Joan and Bill Flint. Joan was the association’s secretary for almost 11 years and this was the 10th event to be held in their garden.
However, this year’s celebration was organised by Hazel Layt, the Social and Events o-ordinator, and with the willing hands of the committee, the members enjoyed paella made by Hazel’s husband, Tony, and Treasurer Anne McGrath.
After a period of changeable weather the day was blessed with sunshine and very little wind. Joan had made a cake for the occasion which was shared by all, accompanied by a glass of cava.
Everyone received a free raffle ticket on arrival, with the winners receiving cash prizes.
The successful afternoon, made particularly special after such a long time with restrictions applied to social events, concluded with a few taking to their feet to dance in the sunshine
The next meeting of U3A Marina Baixa will take place at 11am on Monday November 8 at the Casa de Cultura in Alfaz and non-members are most welcome to attend.
Further information about the Association can be found on their www.u3amarinabaixa.com website and on their Facebook page.
