The mother of a five-year-old boy who was found dead in a river in Wales is the third person to be charged with his murder.

30-year-old Angharad Williamson from Sarn is charged with the murder of her son, Logan Mwangi.

Logan, also known as Logan Williamson, was found on July 31 in the River Ogmore, Bridgend County.

Ms Williamson had previously been charged with perverting the course of justice.

It was announced yesterday, October 21, that detectives had charged Williamson with murder and she will be appearing before Cardiff Magistrates’ Court today.

John Cole (39), Williamson’s partner, has already been charged with murder, as well as a 14-year old boy.

The teenager was charged yesterday and will also appear in court today after previously being charged with the lesser count of perverting the course of justice. He cannot be named because of his age.

Five-year-old Logan was discovered on July 31 after police were called to reports of a missing child at 5:45am.

He was later confirmed dead at the Princess of Wales Hospital.

Coroner’s officer Lauren Howitt said at an inquest held in Pontypridd that Logan had been formally identified by his grandmother, Claire Williamson.

Further investigation was then carried out via post-mortem to discover the cause of death.

South Wales Police major crime investigation team is carrying out the ongoing inquiries.
