The mayor of Nerja Jose Alberto Armijo has announced that Nerja is leading the way in International tourism at a provincial level in Spain. Armijo revealed that tourist occupancy data for the month of October published, by the Association of Hotel Entrepreneurs of the Costa del Sol (AEHCOS), positions Nerja as the leader in the ranking at the provincial level with 87.47 per cent. “This important news confirms that we are going in a very good direction, contributing indisputably to the recovery of international tourism in the province as a leading quality tourist destination on the Eastern Costa del Sol-Axarquia.” The news coincides with the celebration of the International Tourism Fair World Travel Market in London, which began on November 1 until November 3. Armijo highlighted that “with this positive data, having a presence at this fair is key to continue advancing in this post-pandemic stage in promoting and consolidating the Nerja tourism brand and increasing British tourism, our main international market.” Nerja Council will be present at the WTM in London promoting the “Feel Nerja, feel the freedom” campaign with a series of videos that can be seen on the social networks of Facebook and Instagram in the UK until the end of December. This is a pioneering campaign targeting the British market with an estimated reach of 40 million people.
