Spanish Il Divo star Carlos Marín placed in an induced coma in the UK.

SPANISH Il Divo star Carlos Marín has been placed in an induced coma after the band postponed their UK tour until 2022 due to ‘illness’.

Marín was said to have been admitted to Manchester Royal Hospital on December 8, just days after the multi-national classical crossover vocal group announced they had postponed their remaining UK tour dates.

The Spanish singer, 53, is reportedly under strict observation after entering the intensive care unit at the hospital, where he remains intubated and in an induced coma.

The singer is said to be stable, although he has not yet escaped danger, according to Spanish newspaper, El Español.

Currently, the causes that led Marín to be induced into a coma are unknown, however, on December 7, the group cancelled its performance at the Hull Bonus Arena, Yorkshire, alluding to the illness of “a person from the group.”

In a tweet, the band announced the cancellation of the tour, writing: “Unfortunately due to illness, the remaining dates of Il Divo’s December 2021 UK tour have been postponed to December 2022.

“Il Divo deeply apologises to his fans but hopes to return to the stage at the new year,” the band wrote.

In addition to their Christmas tour of the United Kingdom, Il Divo also had a concert scheduled for next week in Lisbon and another in La Coruña, both also cancelled.

The popular male quartet, which originated in the UK in December 2003, brings together singers Urs Bühler (Switzerland), Carlos Marín (Spain), David Miller (United States), and Sébastien Izambard (France). The group have sold more than 30 million albums worldwide.
