Armed group ‘executes 17 people in street’ during a wake in Mexico.
According to reports, 17 people are feared dead after an ambush on a funeral wake. The wake was attacked by an armed group in Mexico.
The attack is said to have taken place on Sunday afternoon, February 27, in Michoacán state. Social media footage reportedly shows the incident taking place in San José de Garcia. According to The Metro, social media footage shows people being executed. The people were forced to line up before being shot.
Unofficial reports suggest that at least 17 people died in the shocking attack. La Voz de Michoacán reported that an armed group had arrived at the wake.
According to reports, a shooting broke out when one “criminal cell” started to fire shots. It is believed that a high profile member of a criminal gang had been attending the wake.
After the shooting curfews have been put in place. Police patrols have been ramped up in a bid to prevent more violence.
An investigation has been launched by local authorities into the shooting.
