CHARITY DONATION: Members of the Calpe-Benissa Lions Club with Carolyn Mills and a Cancer Care nurse Photo credit: Carolyn Mills
CAROLYN MILLS contacted the Euro Weekly News recently, thanking us for publicising a donation for Cancer Care Costa Blanca.
“I thank you for that because this organisation is not as widely-known as another one, but it should be!” Carolyn exclaimed.
Now Cancer Care Costa Blanca has received another donation, Carolyn explained, this time a €500 cheque from the Calpe-Benissa Lions Club.
The Javea-based charity, which was founded in 1998, works with professionals and experts to deliver care and meet the needs of people throughout their cancer journey.
Carolyn explained how much Cancer Care Costa Blanca had helped her after she was diagnosed with cancer.
“I have been fortunate to have so far survived four operations, three chemotherapy and 40 radiotherapy sessions,” Carolyn revealed. “There was no pain with any of the procedures but my goodness, the after-effects were dismal.”
After her treatment “feeling absolutely miserable and unable to eat” she was nursed by Carol, one of Cancer Care Costa Blanca’s nurses and other members of the team.
“Most of all, she gave me confidence. She is a star, together with the rest of the nurses, notably the amazing Amilee,” Carolyn said. “I hope your widely-read newspaper brings this charity to everyone’s attention.”
