EURO WEEKLY NEWS reader, Nigel Deville, lives not far from the old BBVA building in Albir.
This was formerly a holiday hotel for employees of the former Banco de Vizcaya, now merged with the Banco de Bilbao and Argentaria.
“The huge old building is being demolished, creating loads of of dust in the areas close to the building,” Nigel said.
“Locals have known for many years that there is much asbestos in the building,” he continued. “But I get no answers from anyone as to what is being done to prevent asbestos dust from escaping and affecting properties and businesses surrounding this site.”
Nigel pointed out that many residents in the area that are worried about asbestosis.
“Why oh why can’t the authorities even answer my questions? Are they hiding something?” asked Nigel, who added that he hoped the Euro Weekly News could get some answers for him.
We hope soon to obtain them, and will advise him as well as other worried Albir residents and our readers once we have them.
