Yesterday, March 3, the first deputy mayor of Mijas and mayor of tourism, José Carlos Martín, unveiled the “Mijas selfie route,” a new method for increasing touristic activity in the region through social media.
The project consists of fifteen places along a scenic route where social media influencers, YouTubers, Instagrammers and regular tourists alike can snap photos of themselves in some of the most beautiful, historic and scenic parts of the city centre. All fifteen different stops along the selfie route are marked by yellow plaques that can be found on the ground.
“In this way, we will be present on all these platforms where we will show our best views, highlighting our attractive landscape” states Martin.
The sites on the route include: Mirador Hermanos Núñez Andréu, Virgen de la Peña Hermitage, Zambombero Statue, Calle La Fishermen’s Trail, and many more. Martin highly recommends visiting certain sites after sunset due to the picturesque lighting of the city. These areas include Pasaje Esteban Moreno Gambero, Fuente de la Muralla and La Puente.
Those wanting to hike the route and share their best selfies from breathtaking Mijas can stop by the Mijas Pueblo Tourist Office for more information.
