THE 13th edition of Finestrat’s Kilometro Vertical Puig Campana race will be run on Sunday, March 27.
The race covers a 3.6-kilometre route on the Puig Campana mountain with a vertical drop of one kilometre, explained Finestrat’s Sports councillor David Alarcon.
“Few mountains anywhere in the world with such a steep gradient are located so close to the sea,” he said. “We’re talking about a Kilometro Vertical that’s like no other in Spain.”
The race is limited to 250 runners and the race organiser Romualdo Domenech confirmed that Maria Fuentas, Ana Tauste and Maria de la Torre who came first, second and third in the women’s section last year, will be running again this year.
Specialists Emili Selles and Carlos Pascual will be taking part in the men’s section, along with local runner Vicente “Tato” Llorca Climent.
