Breaking: Lewis Hamilton announces name change. Lewis is changing his name to include his mother’s surname.
The 37-year-old Formula 1 star Sir Lewis Hamilton has announced that he is changing his name so he can take on his mother’s surname, Larbalestier. The change is so that he can honour his mother.
Hamilton commented: “I am really proud of my family’s name. My mum’s name is Larbalestier and I am just about to put that in my name.
“I don’t really fully understand the whole idea that when people get married the woman loses her name and I really want my mum’s name to continue on with the Hamilton name.”
According to Hamilton, the process has already started. When asked when the change would take place he commented: “Hopefully soon. We are working on it.”
