Sparkling Ukraine event raises €4,250 at La Scala in Marbella

ON Friday, March 18, generous members of the Costa del Sol community gathered together at La Scala, Marbella, for a sparkling fundraiser to support those affected by the war in Ukraine.

Raising €5,000 for Costa del Sol-based Ukraine association Maydan Malaga, guests took part in a raffle and silent auction at the We Stand with Ukraine event hosted by La Scala´s Tibbi Aquila and fundraiser Natalie Fantuzzi in Marbella.

Guests came from across the Costa del Sol to show their support, with a total of 75 people attending and 60 generous local businesses and individuals donating raffle and auction prizes worth an amazing €5,000.

Among the prizes were a signed Liverpool football shirt, a week´s stay at a luxury villa in Marbella, and vouchers for a range of services, while the Euro Weekly News also supported the event donating a brand new Samsung TV worth more than €650 to be auctioned off.

With €20 from every menu at the event going towards Maydan as well, the Costa del Sol community once again showed how it pulls together to help those in need.

Speaking about the generosity of those coming out to support Ukraine, Olena Sampara from Maydan Malaga told guests: “Thank you very much for supporting my country.

“The money raised today will be paying for essential transport and humanitarian aid to help Ukranians affected by the war.”

Guests also praised the event´s organisers and the Costa del Sol community for supporting Ukraine.

Janet Bonomo from Mijas told the Euro Weekly News: “It’s amazing to see the community out, I’ve been here many times before and when I heard that Natalie was doing it I wanted to support.”

Natalie told the EWN why she had wanted to support efforts in Ukraine.

She said: “Tibbi called me and said we need to do something to help Ukraine, and I knew we had to and we managed to get this together in three weeks.

“Its very sad. I have friends in Ukraine and I’m happy to be able to organise this to be able to support everyone there.”
