Aids threat: Man spat in Mossos officer’s eyes and face. The man threatened to kill the officer and yelled that he had AIDS.
A judge in Spain’s Barcelona has ordered a man to pay 7,000 euros in compensation to a Mossos d’Esquadra officer. The man had spat in the officer’s mouth and eyes and yelled that he was infected with AIDS. The officer had to undergo antiviral treatment and months of testing before it was proven that he was not infected.
The head of Barcelona Criminal Court number 1 has charged the man with a crime of resistance. Along with 7,000 euros in compensation, the man will have to pay a fine of nearly 3,000 euros too.
The shocking incident happened on March 14, 2021. The arrested person did not appear at the trial for the incident.
The officer was assaulted after attending an incident in Sardenya street in Barcelona. The officers had scrambled to the area after they had been alerted that a woman was being assaulted.
When the officers arrived at the scene of the incident the accused attempted to flee. Officers soon intercepted him and placed him in a police vehicle. The man then threatened the officers and said: “I’m going to kill you”.
The man then repeatedly spat at the officers. He managed to hit one of the officers in their mouth and eyes. It is not expected that the person will be able to pay the fine due to their insolvency. It is expected that the Department of the Interior will have to pay the compensation instead, according to 20 minutes.
