The Queen is allegedly struggling to walk, as reports that her health is deteriorating have intensified.

THE Queen is allegedly struggling to walk on her own and could need the use of a wheelchair, as reports that her health is deteriorating have intensified.

According to several media outlets, the Queen may have to use a wheelchair to attend Prince Philip’s memorial at Westminster Abbey, which takes place on March 29.

The Mirror notes that the royal will require the wheelchair but that every possible effort will be made in order to protect her image, with six-foot privacy screens, a helicopter and a football tunnel potentially being used to protect her privacy.

The 95-year-old could be flown by helicopter from Windsor Castle to Buckingham Palace before being driven from the Palace to Westminster Abbey, with the entirety of Dean’s Yard sealed off to stop the press from taking photos of the ageing monarch.

Six-foot privacy screens or a football-style tunnel are also being looked at as possible ways to block photographers, the Sun reports.

Ingrid Seward, who is editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, told the paper: “Understandably, the Queen doesn’t want to be seen in a wheelchair.

“But as the Head of State and someone who wants to be seen and needs to be seen, she might concede to a wheelchair. The best way of doing that is to make sure there are no photographs taken.”

She added: “She would really hate to miss it. It is a headache for her staff as it would be difficult for anyone of her age who suffers mobility problems. It would be a painful process for her.”

An increasing number of reports that the Queen’s health deteriorated significantly have been making the rounds on social media and sources speaking to the Sun say that “on certain days” she has struggled to get about.

The Queen has previously ruled out the option of using a wheelchair at this stage and remains determined to continue to walk for as long as possible, as reported by the tabloid newspaper.
