The Rincon de la Victoria Town Council has organised an initiative to mark the occasion of World Water Day, celebrated internationally on March 22.
The Department of Environmental Sustainability from the Rincon de la Victoria Town Council has announced a new workshop to mark the occasion of World Water Day as part of the annual Environmental Education Programme called ‘More Sustainability, More Life’.
There will be a series of family-oriented activities are that will take place from 11am to 2pm on March 26 next to the Rincon Tourist Office. Prior registration in the activities is not required. Children will have the opportunity to contribute towards the creation of a large mural by adding a sticker in the shape of a drop of water with their own special message. They will also learn about ways to save water and will be given a fun worksheet with a questionnaire to assess their level of understanding.
“The idea is to carry out a workshop where children can learn in a fun way,” said the mayor of Rincon, Francisco Salado. “We are fully committed to our environment and nature,” he added, and went on to highlight the importance of such awareness-raising initiatives.
The councillor for Environmental Sustainability, Borja Ortiz, said: “This is an event to raise awareness about the correct use of water. With small daily actions, we can help to conserve this resource that is currently so precious and scarce. Using water correctly is everyone’s responsibility.”
