The upcoming Night of Art (actually held over three days) in the picturesque coastal town of Altea has a packed programme of artistic and cultural activities.

Altea’s fifth edition of its Night of Art (Nit de l’Art) will take place on June 2, 3 and 4. With something for all the family, the event is more than enough reason for any art lover to spend a few days in the beautiful Alicante town of Altea.

The councillor for Culture, Aurora Serrat, has announced that the programme will be packed with more than 18 activities and that Altea’s Night of Art and Castellon’s Night of Art have joined forces this year. This means that there will be a special exhibition by the Castellon artist Puntax at the Palau Altea.

Artists who wished to have their work displayed as part of the Night of Art event took part in a competition from which the best entries were selected by a jury.

The activities begin on Thursday, June 2, with a poetry performance at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Miguel Hernandez University followed by a visit to Emili Ramón’s house and workshop and the inauguration of an exhibition at the Hotel GH la Marina at 9pm.

On Friday, the afternoon’s activities will begin with a guided tour of the workshops of various artists. Those wishing to participate must register in advance by sending an e-mail to nitdelartaltea@gmail.com. After the tour, people can visit the Palau Altea to see the five entries that have been selected as competition winners from the 25 received, and the exhibition from Castellon will also be inaugurated.

On Saturday morning there will be three visits to workshops of Altea-based artists, as well as an activity for children at the Casa de Cultura called the ‘Colour Laboratory’. It is free of charge, but places are limited and prior registration is required.

Finally, on Saturday evening, all of the projects that were entered into the competition will be displayed. At the Plaza de la Iglesia there will be performances, installations and video creations.
