From October, there will be a new programme in the Balearic Islands aimed at giving young people who are starting out in the world of work more recruitment opportunities.

The Balearic Islands Government has approved a programme aimed at unemployed but qualified young people who have not yet had their first professional experience in the area they studied.

The programme, which will start in October 2022, is financed by the European Social Fund and the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy and has a budget of €8 million, which will benefit almost 300 unemployed young people.

The programme aims to encourage talented young people to stay in the Balearic Islands and to reduce the barriers to recruitment that people encounter when looking for qualified jobs due to not having any previous professional experience.

The initiative allows local corporations, the island councils and municipal associations to hire unemployed young people under the age of 30 who have a university degree or equivalent vocational training.

This will allow young people to obtain work experience in the field that they have specifically studied and to receive a salary, thereby improving opportunities for future employment.
