APTA is now officially part of the Network of Smart Tourist Destinations, which will allow it to improve its quality as a tourist destination and establish ties with others.

The Association for the Promotion of Tourism in Axarquia (APTA) has been admitted to the Network of Intelligent Tourist Destinations, a project promoted by the Secretary of State for Tourism (SETUR). The main objective is to help to improve the competitiveness of tourist destinations and the quality of life of their residents by focusing on five areas of action: governance, innovation, technology, sustainability and accessibility.

According to the president of APTA, Álvaro Hurtado, “Axarquia will be present through our association, participating in plenary commissions of the Network, where we will be able to present our proposals and be part of the existing working groups”. APTA’s membership was approved on June 10.

This brings the number of members of the Network of Smart Tourist Destinations to 543, following the approval of the incorporation of 24 new members by the Plenary Commission, chaired by the Spanish secretary of state for Tourism, Fernando Valdés. Of the 543 members, 370 are full destinations; 79 are institutions; 91 are collaborators; and three are international observers (Tequila, Medellin and Bogota).
