The Plant Shack in Calpe welcomed around 100 people to the opening night of the healthy plant-based cafe.
After moving to Spain a little over three years ago, owners Lee and Sarah first settled in Altea with the vision of opening a juice bar and coffee shop. And that’s what they did.
Starting life as a juice bar, thanks to Sarah’s training as a nutritionist, and with Lee’s background in coffee thanks to his father, the Plant Shack grew in popularity in spite of the pandemic.
With the addition of plant-based foods such as healthy sandwiches, salads and bowls, the Plant Shack brand grew to the point where another location was needed.
“Calpe needs a place like this,” Sarah said.
The two owners, alongside co-owners Gloria and Danny, wanted to bring healthy organic food and drink to Calpe, located around 25 minutes from Benidorm, and delivered on their promise with a wide-ranging menu of healthy juices and organic plant-based food.
Following the success of the Plant Shack in Alicante’s Altea, the cafe in Calpe, which is situated a stone’s throw from the beach, took six months to build due to Spanish building permit hold-ups but it was definitely worth the wait.
From the decor, which is best described as laid-back boho chic with a beach feel, to the fast and friendly service and healthy natural food and drink, the Plant Shack delivers on all fronts.
You can find the Plant Shack on Calle La Nina 5, 03710 Calpe, Alicante. To contact them, you can use WhatsApp on 613 355 012.
