Britney Spears' ex-husband convicted of trespassing and battery for wedding incident

Jason Alexander, who was married to pop star Britney Spears in 2004 for just three days has been convicted of trespassing and battery after attending her June wedding uninvited.

As reported by the Hollywood Reporter, Jason Alexander, the 40-year-old man who was married to pop superstar Britney Spears for less than three days in 2004, on Friday, August 12, was convicted of aggravated trespassing and battery. He had turned up uninvited to his former wife’s wedding on June 9.

Alexander was sentenced in a California court to the 64 days he had already spent in jail by a Ventura County judge after pleading no contest to two misdemeanour counts. Further charges of misdemeanour vandalism and felony stalking were dropped by the prosecutors.

Britney got married at her Thousand Oaks home in California on June 9 to Sam Asghari, her longtime boyfriend. An array of celebrity guests included Madonna, Selena Gomez, Paris Hilton, and Drew Barrymore.

According to testimony at a preliminary hearing, her former husband decided to make his way inside Britney’s home while she was preparing for the big event. He live-streamed his appearance on Instagram. The pop star was inside her room with the door locked.

A security guard was then beaten by Alexander after he tried to remove him from the property said the prosecutors. A door was also damaged during the incident. He was subsequently arrested and taken to a local jail.

Alexander was issued with a restraining order that forbids him from going within 100 yards of both Britney and the security guard. Previously in court, Sandra Bisignani, his lawyer, had claimed there was no evidence that her client ever intended to harm the singer.
