The club said: “Nico González is a midfielder with game vision, technical and tactically intelligent who can occupy various positions in midfield.”
The 20-year-old Spanish midfielder from La Coruña joined Barca at the age of eleven. He grew up at La Masia until in the 2021-2022 season he made his debut with the Barça first team against Real Sociedad.
Last year he played more than 1,000 minutes in LaLiga, scoring two goals, and he also played a leading role in European competition, playing in both the Champions League and the Europa League.
He has played for Spain at international level but not yet with the senior team.
Comments flooded social media following the signing of the young midfielder.
“Nico is better than Bruno Fernandes,” one person wrote, comparing him with Manchester United’s Portuguese midfielder.

Lots of people, however, revealed their disgust at the owners of the club.
“These photos give me between shame and disgust, not because of the player, but because of the image that surrounds him.”
Estas fotos me dan entre vergüenza y asco, no por el jugador, si no por la imagen que le rodea. https://t.co/eRtJWotjJ3 — #LimGoHome (@raul79) August 13, 2022
